Character and identity
Set into the hillside above Agios Ioannis bay on Mykonos's quieter southwestern flank, Katikies opened in 2018 with a crisp white-on-white palette accented by Aegean blue, from porcelain basins to armchair trim. The 35 suites all face the water with private terraces, most with their own plunge pool. Two communal pools (a freshwater infinity and a sand-bottomed rooftop) look out toward Delos. Dining splits between Mikrasia, an ambitious beachfront restaurant from MasterChef Greece alum Aggelos Bakopoulos, and Seltz Champagne Bar for sunset pours. The spa, A.Spa, runs on Ligne St. Barth botanicals.
Who's it for
Best for:
Couples and design-minded travellers who want Mykonos scenery without the Mykonos circus. Honeymooners gravitate to the plunge-pool suites; food-led guests will appreciate Bakopoulos's cooking at Mikrasia; sunset-and-spa types get the most from the infinity pools and Caldera hot stone treatment.
Should look elsewhere:
Families with younger kids are out (the minimum age is 13), as are travellers who want to roll out of bed onto sand: there's no direct beach access, just a short walk down. Anyone hunting Mykonos's nightlife scene should base themselves closer to town.
Bottom line
The reason to come is privacy with a view: a plunge-pool suite, dinner at Mikrasia, and zero exposure to the island's party machine. Spend up for a suite with its own pool rather than relying on the communal ones, request something on the lower terraces if stairs are an issue (a golf cart runs the steeper rooms), and target shoulder season for calmer rates and the same bay.
