Crowning Courchevel 1850 with ski-in, ski-out access to the Trois Vallées, this 34-room maison reimagines the alpine chalet through Sybille de Margerie's interiors: warm woods, fur and leather set against bronze and polished brass, with cherry red threaded through and contemporary art (Paola Pivi, Xavier Veilhan, Andreas Gursky) animating the public rooms. The signature orange-cardamom-amber-patchouli candle scents the corridors. Yannick Alléno's three-Michelin-starred Le 1947 anchors the dining, a Guerlain spa runs from indoor infinity pool to outdoor Russian banya, and the service register is full palace-hotel: ski butlers, preheated boots, first tracks at dawn.

Design-literate skiers and well-heeled couples or families who want a small, art-filled property with serious culinary credentials and choreographed extras (igloo apéritifs, cognac tastings in a Mongolian yurt, moonlit e-bike rides). Strong fit for mixed-ability groups, since the Jardin Alpin position works for beginners and advanced skiers alike, and the kid and teen clubs run alongside.
Should look elsewhere:
Traditionalists hoping for cowbells, carved bannisters and old-Savoyard warmth will find the contemporary, minimalist register too cool. Anyone wanting a year-round base should look elsewhere too: the hotel only opens December through April. Non-skiers will get less value from the slopeside positioning.
